The single best way to make your machine last longer and cut down on repair costs is to properly clean your machine. Lint is very abrasive and can lock your machine up, destroy critical components such as the bushings and shafts that neccessary to the operation of your machine or build up on electronics and short out expensive boards.
Using canned air pushes some of the lint further up into the machine, it builds up over time and cause extensive damage.
A brush does a great job at removing lint but can leave some behind.
A vacuum can make cleaning your machine quicker, easier and more thorough, it will remove lint you may not see or be able to get to with a brush alone.
